WWU is located in the town of Münster in western Germany. The primate facilities are maintained by the Centre of Reproductive Medicine and Andrology (CeRA) of which Prof. Stefan Schlatt is the director.
Currently we house and breed 35 Cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) and 225 Marmoset monkeys (Callithrix jacchus). The CeRA is composed of two major subunits; the Institute of Reproductive and Regenerative Biology, and the Department of Clinical Andrology. Whereas the research in non-human primates focuses on testicular stem cell physiology, fertility preservation and male
contraception, our clinical efforts concentrate on attending patients suffering from male infertility and testicular malignancies.
